France Day 3

So, I am few days behind in my posting. We have been staying out later to get some beautiful night-time pictures of some of the monuments.
I have been trying to post back onto the blog to respond to some of the comments (thank you for the kind words!) but for some reason it blanks out once I submit a reply. Anyhow, Daddy, don't worry, I am taking sooo many pictures. :) The memory card is quite large and after most days I am putting the pictures into a file on Mark's computer so that they are saved. I will have a lot of artistic reference material by the time we return home. yay!

Here is France, Day 3.
Catacombs of Paris (l'Ossuaire Municipal) - underground ossuary that holds the remains of about 6 million people and fills a renovated section of caverns and tunnels that are the remains of Paris' stone mines. It was a peaceful atmosphere and a nice cool temperature in comparison to the warm summer day above.

Luxembourg Gardens (Jardin du Luxembourg) - second largest public park in Paris.
Luxembourg Palace - originally palace built for Marie de Médici; now it houses the French Senate.
I caught Mark in the picture behind me. :)

Musée d'Orsay (no pictures allowed inside, unfortunately) - an impressive collection of French art including "Arrangement in Grey and Black: The Artist's Mother" (which is better known as "Whistler's Mother"),  numerous paintings by Monet, Manet, Degas, van Gogh, Renoir, and other French painters, and quite a few statues by Rodin and others.

The Eiffel Tower at night from the Parc du Champs de Mars.  They do a light show at 10pm, which was pretty sweet. It looks as though thousands of flashbulbs are twinkling.

Someone's been eating too much green eggs & ham...

Miss you all in the states and hope everything is going well! Sending love! <3
