Towers and Tate

Started our day out with the the Tower of London

This fun guy, Allen, led us around and made funny British jokes.
Next stop, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre!
We saw Hamlet! :)
Then, the TATE Modern Museum of Art
I looove art and there were some pretty amazing pieces!
Mark and I took an evening walk and got some nice pictures of the Tower Bridge from the London Bridge.
We will eventually be up in the London Eye but just pics from afar tonight.
New and bigger bed tonight! yay!

My knees, shins, and feet are taking a beating but it is all worth it. It has been interesting hearing all the different languages and accents that come together in London. People have randomly asked Mark for directions which he gladly gives and luckily they ask about places that we have been or plan to go. Thanks for looking at the pictures and commenting! Love!

Crowds and Animals

We went to view a screen and there were SOOO many people. I am pretty short so my view was not to great. It was nice to say that we were there though.

A lot of people dressed up, even this cute dog sported some red, white, and blue.

An excellent day for people watching!
This guy was starting the celebration a little early.
My view with the camera raised above me.

I  love these types of signs all over. Mind the gap, mind your children, etc. This one is for the gap between the platform and the train.
Spent a lot of time on trains. This one took us to the London Zoo.
Fun butterfly "paradise".
Cute!

Noming upon some provided foliage.

Cheesy smile. ha!

The zebra crossing made famous on the Beatles' Abbey Road album cover.
Abbey Road Studios is on the left behind the crossing.

The wall surrounding and the entrance to Abbey Road Studios.

Mark was already bored on the bus to Chicago. hehe!
Beautiful clouds outside the plane window.
 Allllllmost there! (8.5 hrs)
Our first tiny room in a cute bed and breakfast in Windsor.
We took a few trains to get to the Wallace Collection - great, fancy furniture and artwork.

 Windsor Castle!!!

 Audio tour.
 Changing of the guard. :)

Lovely garden leading up to the round tour. The queen was not home.
 St. George's Chapel
Our second tiny room, the bathroom looks like a closet - cute!
Walking in Hampstead Heath - nice trails and found our way to a gorgeous view of the city.

We are doing very well. Legs are a bit tired from all the walking. Tomorrow, the prince is getting married. We have still not decided if we want to brave the crowds. We k now that we will be visiting Abbey Road (well known for a famous Beatles album) and the London Zoo. yay! Miss you all!

We made it!

So, it just took a while to get internet so this is just a quick update. Pics to come later! We took quite a few.

The plane ride was long and neither of us slept but to adjust to London time, we both stayed up until night here. There is a six hour difference. Yesterday, we visited the Wallace Collection of Art. We had some issues with the trains in between (one broke down) so it took a while to get back. I fell asleep a few times ha!

Today, we had breakfast at our bed and breakfast place and then stored our luggage to go to the Windsor Castle. I love castles and this one was in beautiful condition. We got to see the changing of the guard and took many pictures (sadly, none were allowed inside).

Okay, that's just a quick update. We are heading back to the trains now to a new hotel near Hampstead Heath. Now that we are more rested, we are enjoying ourselves. Love ya!

Two more sleeps...

So, Mark and I have two more nights of sleep at home and then off we go! Tuesday, April 26, we are taking the bus down to Chicago and then onto a non-stop flight to London!

Mark has never been to Europe. I went in my Senior year of high school but it was 12 days in three countries so it was hard to remember where I was and what I saw. This time, I am set on remembering what will be a fabulous trip with my wonderful husband  - thus the blog. :)

I will be taking many pictures and hopefully, blogging most days. Thanks for reading!
